Pastor Jacqueline Lawrence is an ordained minister in the Southeastern California Conference and has been ministering with SECC for approximately ten years. She is an active member of the San Diego SDA Ministerial Association and serves as the Social Director. As of April, 2013, Pastor Jacqueline Lawrence has been serving as an Associate Pastor for member care and nurture at the 31st Street Seventh-day Adventist Church in San Diego, CA. Prior to this appointment, she served, for approximately one year, as an interim Associate Pastor at the Chula Vista Seventh-day Adventist Church with primary responsibilities for outreach to senior citizen, missing church members and Bible studies. She was also very active in the Chula Vista Pathfinders club, including leadership and mentorship roles as the pastoral liaison between church and club.

From 2006-2012, Pastor Jacqueline Lawrence served as the Associate Pastor for Community Services and Outreach at the Loma Linda University Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California. She is the first African-American female to pastor at the University Church. Pastor Lawrence joined a pastoral staff of twelve, which served a constituency of approximately six thousand members. She was also the first pastor to be assigned to the Executive Directorship of the Adventist Community Team Services (ACTS), which has been a ministry of the Loma Linda University Church since 1966, providing Christian based counseling and social services to the Loma Linda and surrounding communities.

Pastor Lawrence is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota and she has two children and five grandchildren. Pastor Lawrence has been a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for over 30 years after converting from the Pentecostal denomination and is a “first generation” Seventh-day Adventist. Prior to her ministry within the Adventist church, Pastor Lawrence was employed for 20 years in the field of Social Services. She was serving as the Executive Director of Social Services for Naomi Family Services, a shelter for homeless women and their children when she, finally, obeyed God’s call to continue her undergraduate education and to begin her theology training. In 1998 she resigned the position she held for five years at NFC, sold her home and many possessions and sponsored herself to attend the Andrews University Theological Seminary.
